Professor Dr. Mani Maran Ratnam
NU 3+0 Beng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering

Prof. Dr. Mani Maran Ratnam obtained his B.Eng. degree in Mechanical Engineering (Honors Class I) from University of Malaya in 1985 and his Ph.D. degree from the Polytechnics of Wales (U.K.) in 1991. His research interests are in the areas of optical metrology, machine vision and image processing. He has published over 130 journal and conference proceedings papers. He has also won several awards for product innovation and holds two patents as co-inventor. He is registered under IMechE (UK) as a chartered engineer (C.Eng.) and is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology. He is currently a professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Professor Dr. Mohd Zaid Abdullah

Professor Dr. Mohd Zaid Abdullah is current a Professor of the USM's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Prof. Zaid graduated from University Sains Malaysia (USM) with a B.App. Sc. degree in Electronics in 1986 before joining Hitachi Semiconductor (Malaysia) as a Test Engineer. In 1989 he commenced an M.Sc. in Instrument Design and Application at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). He remained in Manchester, carrying out research in Electrical Impedance Tomography at the same university, and received his Ph.D. degree in 1993. He returned to Malaysia in the same year to start a career as a lecturer with USM.

Prof. Zaid’s research interests include digital image processing, computer vision and electromagnetic sensing. He has published numerous research articles in international journals and conference proceedings. One of his papers was awarded The Senior Moulton medal for the best article published by the Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2002.

Prof. Zaid is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK. He is also regularly invited to serve as international and national journal and conference reviewer as well as editorial board, academic programme external examiner and board of study member to institutions of higher learning, postgraduate thesis examiners, accreditation panel for Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA).
Ir. Dr. Mui Kai Yin

Dr. Mui graduated from the University of Sunderland, UK with an Honours degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering). Thereafter, he continued and completed his postgraduate degree from the University of Warwick, UK with a Master of Science (Advanced Mechanical Engineering). He also holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Management from the Atlantic University, USA; with research thesis on Multi-National Corporation Employee Retention - Human Resource Management.

He had more than 18 years of experience on managing various projects in the Electronics, Telecommunication, Automotive and Construction industries, and handled more than 50 local and global new product launch projects successfully.

One of the significant project he managed was the design and build of one of the world’s largest solar cell manufacturing plant in Malaysia (>MYR 1 billion investment). In this role, he was the overall lead on managing the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) functions on behalf of the client, and managed more than 100 team members and stakeholders from diversify cultures. This project received the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) excellence award in 2012!

Dr. Mui carries a few credentials with him; he is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) with the Project Management Institute (PMI®), USA (www.pmi.org). A licensed Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (www.bem.org.my), and a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (www.iem.org.my). He has been an active member of the institution, involved in organizing various technical activities for the
local branch members. He is currently the chairman of the IEM Penang branch (2014-2015), and also the committee of the IEM Electronic Engineering Technical Division, eETD (2009- 2015).

Today, Dr. Mui leads and operates PMO ASIA SDN. BHD., focusing on providing project management training, coaching and consulting services to the local and oversea clients. He is currently the faculty for the PMO ASIA’s Project Management Professional (PMP®) exam preparation boot camp, helping aspirant Project Managers to prepare and pass the PMP® credential exam.
