Putting an end to cyber violence

George Town, November 25 - Themed ‘Stop Cyber-Violence’ this year, the Penang Goes Orange campaign, which runs from Nov 25 to Dec 10 every year, launched on Nov 25 at KDU University College in Anson Road. The Penang Goes Orange campaign is organised by the state Women, Family and Community Development and the Penang Women’s Development Corporation since 2014 and it represents the state’s commitment to eliminate Violence Against Women. The opening ceremony was officiated by Penang Chief Minister YAB Lim Guan Eng.

Established in November 2011, the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC) is a state-funded company set up with a vision towards a Penang which mainstreams gender into the policies and programmes of all sectors in order to achieve gender and social justice in the State. PWDC aims to ensure the transformation of Penang based on principles of substantive equality and good governance. Integral to its work is the recognition of women’s diverse identities, women’s representation in all spheres and the equitable redistribution of resources.
