|George Town, 7 Mac 2018 – Making it into the Dean’s List is more than just bragging rights, said KDU Penang University College (KDU Penang) Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr Brian Imrie.|
“It means that in that particular semester, you did superbly well in certain subjects. That is how you can get a Grade Point Average of 3.8 and above to be on the list. “So even if you don’t get a first class honours degree, getting into the Dean’s List for a certain semester is a mark of your specialty in certain subjects,” Dr Imrie explained.
But the bragging rights are certainly useful, he added with a smile, saying that it would accord students with a fair level of respect from their peers and give them a chance to practice leadership.
|Dr Imrie was speaking after presenting certificates to 56 students who made it into the Dean’s List on 2nd March, 2018.|
Among them were accounting undergraduate Peh Wen Yin, who is pursuing Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) from School of Busines and Accounting. She was the only student getting into the Dean’s List for Bachelor of Accounting (Hons).

“This is my first time getting a Dean’s List award from KDU Penang and I feel very proud of myself. I thank my lecturer who solved all my enquires,” said Peh. She added that she was always focused in class and asked questions whenever she did not understand. This young girl always motivates and pushes herself to study and thoroughly understand the subjects to perform excellently in her exams.
