George Town, 30 August 2018 - George Town, 3 September 2018 – KDU Penang University College (KDU Penang) and Northumbria University entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and now, KDU Penang officially provides Dual Award undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for Master of Science in Engineering Project Management and Bachelor of Science (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Professor Dr. Chong Beng Keok, Vice Chancellor of KDU Penang and Professor Jon Reast, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Northumbria University signed the MoA on behalf of their respective organisations on August 30, 2018, at KDU Penang.
“Northumbria University and KDU Penang are proud to offer dual award programmes in engineering because it is specifically designed to take engineers into the next stage of their profession and that is into managing engineering projects,” said Dr. Chong at the MoA signing ceremony.
“These programmes will equip students with knowledge of the theories, research and professional practices related to the field of study,” added Dr. Chong. She also said KDU Penang and Northumbria University will work together in matters including research and educational exchanges.
“The proposal to deliver dual awards in electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines emerged as a way of offering students in Penang access to a Northumbria University degree alongside a degree awarded by KDU Penang,” said Professor Jon Reast.
Both Dual Award programmes will be conducted in collaboration with industry partners to equip students for employment or further studies through the development of transferable know-how, employability and research skills. The high-impact learning method by collaborating with the well-known university will be continued when KDU Penang opens its flagship campus in Metropolis Batu Kawan next year.
