KDU College Penang builds on one success after another and further proof of it comes with the recent wins in the MDeC-IHL Business Plan 2012 Competition held on the 25th of May 2012. The 'Penang Youths' team featuring Jazz Tan Yee Mei, Ginger Chin Zhi Wei and Rachel Su Pui Yee from the IT and Business school of KDU clinched the 1st runner-up prize worth RM7000.00 with its project proposal to build a website for the youth community by engaging advertisers and youths to support youth development projects.

For these winners, joining the competition boosted their confidence and social skills as they also networked with other participants besides the opportunity to attend various trainings and workshops. According to Jazz Tan, "I am very glad to be part of this year's competition. The best part about winning is that we are able to network with the investors". This remark comes following the success of KDU in the competition for 2009/2010 when 'Team Lextronics' won the 1st prize for Business Plan Category and 2010/2011 with 'Team Striver Software Solution' won the 2nd runner-up for Business Plan category and Team Dyna Tech won 1st runner-up for Business Idea Category.

The winning students were also full of praise for their lecturers who have been their mentors throughout the competition as this achievement would have certainly been not possible if not for the quality line of academic team that KDU has facilitating its programs. Beaming proudly is Dr. Yeap Gik Hong, Program Leader from School of Engineering, Science and Technology who said, "Coaching these students and seeing them succeed is an immeasurable feeling, it makes all the efforts worthwhile". To add another feather to the cap, the team also won the Best Pitching Award amounted to a RM500 prize.

Another winner, J-SPY team represented by Jimmy Chai Yow Kang and Prakash Ghandi won the Merit Prize of RM1500 with their project Smart Food Ordering System. Their innovative ideas of creating software and hardware solutions with a smart food ordering system hopes to make food business more customer centric to replace the conventional methods being practiced in restaurants.

The MSC competition itself was a repeating success and this is was concurred by Professor Datuk Dr Ahmad Yusoff Hassan, Chairman of the MSC Malaysia-IHL Business Plan Competition 2011/2012 said that the competition was in its 8th edition and has seen an increase in the quality of submissions thus making the judging more challenging every year for the various categories.

KDU continued success in this national competition solidifies its commitment to groom tomorrow's young entrepreneurs for success. It is no longer a paper qualification that sets an achiever's benchmark nowadays but more importantly the ability in acquiring an entrepreneurial mindset and skills that are quintessential for our graduates. This sets apart KDU's graduates from the rest!
