KDU nursing grads sought after locally and abroad

A resounding "Yes" was the answer for eight ecstatic KDU nursing students, when asked if they are taking up the job offer by Changi Hospital Singapore. For them, attending a series of interviews has finally paid off for the students who are currently pursuing their final year of nursing training before attaining their KDU Diploma in Nursing. They were given a major boost 2 weeks back when they were awarded conditional offers to work at the prestigious hospital. These candidates will embark into their nursing career in the Lion City upon the passing of their Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia (LJM) examinations and registration to the Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB).

One of the students, Lee Yee Yang said, "I knew I wanted to do this because being a nurse is a noble profession. This opportunity is a good start for my career and I would like to thank KDU for training me well to receive this chance."

Understanding human emotions and connecting to their physical illness can only be undertaken by a very compassionate person. For Stacy Irene Augustine, choosing to follow her mother's footstep is a childhood dream come true. "What amazes me is she is a very dedicated nurse who continues to help others who are in need no matter what background they came from".

With medical tourism gaining popularity in the Pearl of the Orient, nurses are always in demand. School leavers who are interested in take up a career in nursing will be glad to know that KDU's nursing programme equip students with knowledge, skills and attitude by providing professional linkages to industry leaders. For clinical placements, students will be posted to train at Penang General Hospital as well as established private hospitals such as Loh Guan Lye, Gleneagles Medical Centre, Island Hospital and Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital.
