Job Fair 2019

George Town, 5 March 2019 – About 1,000 fresh graduates, job seekers, final-year academic students and the public got the privilege of getting to know employers from multinational companies and various industries in one roof.

Armed with their resumes, job seekers also had a field day ‘shopping’ for job opportunities while learning more about the job requirements, working environment and culture, skills needed and career advancement potentials in leading companies in this country. The chance to get ‘early bird’ opportunities was also a blessing for final-year students looking for internships during the Job Fair at KDU Penang University College (KDU Penang)

KDU Penang’s annual Job Fair was successfully organised on Feb 28, 2019, at its Anson Road campus and it attracted more than 35 multinational companies and local industries. The well-known companies included Media Prima, EcoWorld, Jen Hotel, Dell, Intel, Plexus and many more.

“We always maintain good relationships with the employers. Job Fair is our annual event to create routes for students to connect and network with employers from various companies to know more about what companies want from them,” said Professor Dr. Chong Beng Keok, vice-chancellor of KDU Penang.

“Our students have a track record of almost 99% employment in less than six months after graduation. This Job Fair is part of our yearly effort to help students get exposure to the working environment,” she added.

This Job Fair is a one-stop centre for us to get instant face-to-face interviews and get to know more about the needs of the companies before we even finish our studies,” said Jessie Tan, who is pursuing her Bachelor of Computer Science at KDU Penang.

Future KDU Penang Job Fair events are expected to draw even larger crowds with the opening of the Batu Kawan campus next year. With industry players in Batu Kawan Industrial Estate nearby more employers will be able to conveniently make their presence felt at the fair.

KDU Penang’s strategic partnership with University of Wollongong, a premier, top-ranking foreign university from Australia, offering transformative learning experiences, will also potentially take job fairs on the campus to an international level.
