Glitz and Glamour for a ‘Green’ Cause

To culminate the year long going-green campaign, KDU College Penang Campus celebrates the event with glitz and glamour in its Inaugural Charity Graduation Ball themed "Going Green" on 24th September 2010 at E & O Hotel, Penang. This exciting event helped to raise funds for St. Nicholas' Home Penang, a non -profitable organization providing education, training and employment opportunities to the blind and visually impaired persons.

According to Ms Joey Phuah, Manager, Student Service Department, "Thinking and living green is a way of life, and throughout our year long going-green campaign, we hope to create awareness to companies and individuals alike to make a difference. Through Sponsorship, individual ticket sales and donations, we raised RM10,000 for the St. Nicholas Home. Our eco-friendly door gift that everyone received today is a hand-made pencil holder made of recycled newspaper which has been dedicatedly crafted and painted by our volunteers. We hope that all will appreciate the gift and embrace the message of going green for a more sustainable planet!".

The prestigious celebration will gather more than 500 people comprising students, their families and friends, alumni staff as well as members of the press, VIPs and representatives from key private sector organizations. The Opening Performance by St. Nicholas Home is heart-warming as it touched our hearts for their love of music, the universal language.

In Dr. Chong's speech, she expressed gratitude to all donors for their generous contributions towards making the donation possible. As guests enjoyed their sumptuous dinner, they were entertained by live bands and musical performances while crooning popular numbers to the guests' delight.
