Fairytale drama adds up colorful learning experience for KDU students

Students from KDU’s Centre for English Language put a good show during a drama entitled “Snow White, seen here with the “witch” (in scarve).
More than forty over students from KDU's Centre for English Language's Intensive English Programme recently took part in a drama presentation as part of the learning activity of their course. The students from the Elementary English level reenacted the famed fairytale entitled "Snow White" whereas the Intermediate English students presented a drama entitled "College Ghost Story". The audience thoroughly enjoyed the whole show with some help from the clever setup and lighting effects. The spooky presentation certainly left with the audience with an unsettling feeling especially for the fans of horror stories. At the end of the day, the audience also had a rousing time watching performance entitled "It's All About Hair", delivered by students from the Higher Intermediate English.

This unique drama presentation learning technique has been very effective for the Centre for the past 21 years. This was concurred by Ms Jasamine Ooi who is the Academic Department Head of Centre for English Language who said, "Our drama presentation enhances students' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills which are taught in an enjoyable and activity-centered environment. Besides receiving a thorough grounding in all aspects of grammar, students learn to communicate and improve pronunciation skills and this helps to improve their application of the language in their daily lives."

KDU's Centre for English Language also conducts English workshop and programmes for various institutions around the world and its English Language courses are especially popular among high school and post-graduate students, working adults, and even pre-service and in-service teachers. There are many international students from nations like Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, India, Turkey, Pakistan and many more that are coming to pursue their language studies with KDU. Besides learning English, students may also choose to pursue their education in Diploma or Degree programs after that.

Here at KDU College, students are prepared to function in a global economy by broadening their perspective and assisting them to gain greater insights into crosscultural perspectives. All programmes are Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) approved allowing for easy credit transfer to other local learning institutions in Malaysia.

With partner universities such as Northumbria University and IMI University Centre from Switzerland, KDU graduates stand head and shoulders above others in the industry.
