Educators gear secondary students up in IT and Robotic Workshops

Two schools were taken under the wings of the IT and Engineering faculty of KDU College Penang Campus recently to nurture creativity and discovery through robotics workshops. Under the guidance of Ms. Amy Leow who is the Business Development Manager for School of Engineering, Science and Technology, the workshops are one of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to teach young minds in understanding of robotics and the possibility of using sensors to solve challenges.

Students from SMJK Heng Ee and SMJK Hua Lian, Taiping were given an overview of the fundamentals of using LEGO NXT robots to construct and programme robotic designs creatively. By encouraging the discoveries for themselves, this programme is both academically and socially beneficial to students to encourage advanced mathematics skills, coordination ability and problem solving skills. This learning platform served to support Penang Science Council's mission to set Penang as a knowledge intensive and centers of excellence for innovators and entrepreneurs.

This initiative is yet another proof that KDU College encourages such collaborations with schools as it views this as an opportunity to reach out to serve the community to cultivate young minds through the use of innovative technology in the field of IT and Engineering specifically.
