Our Malaysian Junior Team was awarded a Bronze Medal in the cold display category and a Silver medal in the hot cooking category in the recent 2013 International Youth Chefs Challenge in Seoul, Korea.
Led by Chef Chuah Lay Yen, the team comprised of KDU Diploma in Professional Chef Training alumni Khor Ying Jia, Sean Lim Boon Ghee, Tan Zhi Hong and two promising young pastry apprentices from Kuala Lumpur.
Competeting against Australia, China, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Luxembourg, South Africa, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, Thailand, UAE and USA, the team managed to rank in the top 5 out of 19 for the hot cooking category and ranked an overall 10 out of 19 countries.
