Venue: IMI Lounge, Level 1, KDU Penang
The successful partnership of KDU with the IMI University Centre in Lucerne, Switzerland has for many years produced quality hospitality, tourism and culinary graduates in Malaysia. IMI and KDU celebrate its fruitful partnership through the opening of the IMI – KDU Lounge in KDU Penang, which functions as a counselling and education advice lounge for the Swiss hospitality programmes.
The event was co-hosted by Mr. Laurent Joliat from IMI Switzerland and SHTCA Penang, with invited guests from hotels, alumni, transferring students, SHTCA staff and KDU Heads of Departments.
Designed to look sophisticated with a touch of Swiss elegance, the lounge was done with a fusion of modern and classical ambience, featuring luxury facilities of a higher standard found in European hotels. Potential students and guests will also get to experience IMI University Centre’s history and achievements in full High-Def through a SMART video portal whilst sipping a cup of full bodied Nespresso coffee and having delicate Swiss chocolate napolitans. This is when counseling becomes an Experience! Mr. Joliat added in his speech that quality, simplicity and elegance characterize Swiss hospitality and thus with its hospitality programmes.
Notable hoteliers who graced the event include Mr. Simon Douthett (General Manager, Holiday Inn Penang), Mr. Patrick Cheah (Training Manager, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort), Mr. Ramesh Ganeson (Regional Director of Operational Excellence, Starwood Group of Hotels), Mr. Kurt Vieran (General Manager, Four Points by Sheraton) and Ms Siti Majmin (HRAM, Lone Pine Hotel).
