SHTCA, in collaboration with Chef’s Association of Malaysia (Penang Chapter) came home with a Silver Medal in the 3rd Pattaya City Gourmet Seafood Challenge 2012.


The Team consisted of 3 Chefs, 1 Pastry Chef and 1 Team Manager, who were required to prepare a seafood theme buffet for 20 pax. It proved to be a challenge, in which the talented chefs overcame. The menu items they had prepared consisted of the following:


The Main Course
10 x portions of main course (Mystery Protein – Non Seafood and Thai Herb or Vegetable)


The Buffet
The buffet must include the following dishes:
1 x salads modern freestyle (Fish or Seafood)
1 x cold appetizers freestyle (Fish or Seafood)
1 x hot soup (Fish or Seafood)
2 x different types of cold tapas (Fish or Seafood)
1 x hot / main course (Fish or Seafood)
1 x hot / main course (50% Rice 50% Fish or Seafood)
1 x hot / main course (100% vegetarian)
2 x free style desserts -
1 x whole cake (30% Thai Fruits)

2 Dip-PCT students Gan ZiNeng and Tchey Soon Wei also won 2 Bronze medals in the Modern Asian Meal Competition and Brunch Plated dishes competition in a team of two persons.
