Recently, the School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts led its IMI International Hotel & Tourism Management students for a visit to IMI University Centre in Lucerne, Switzerland. A total of 72 students and 3 lecturers from KDU Penang and KDU PJ journeyed together from the 11-19 January 2012.
Upon arrival at Lucerne, students and lecturers were given a warm and hospitable welcome by IMI staff. Mr. Ritzel conducted an introduction to IMI and a ‘Swissness’ Presentation was also shown, to introduce the group to the university centre and Swiss culture. The group were then taken for a tour of the city.
The next day, students were briefed on their assignment by Mr. Maharis, followed by a product briefing by IMI staff. Another tour of the beautiful city filled the afternoon. For the remaining six days, the group departed for a Full day tour to Zurich, where they visited places of interest, and were also taken on excursions to the Victorinox factory, chocolate and cheese factories as well as a brewery to observe the methods of processing and production.
